Mal Saville will be the UDA liaison officer across the UK starting Sept 2018. Mal has a long and productive career within the professional soccer industry as well as within the social service sector.
Mal has worked for over 30 years as a professional soccer scout for a number of clubs around England and presently does scouting work for Brentford FC in addition to his work in social services.
Jeff Thompson, Director of UDA said, “Mal is a perfect fit the UDA model given his sporting and academic background – he was a former apprentice professional football player at Huddersfield Town and has scouted for many league clubs over the last 30 years. Mal's background and his training in social services has given him the understanding to be the perfect liaison officer in the UDA program.”
Thompson stated further, "Mal's role will be to act as the liaison officer across the UDA university network in the UK. He will visit students and offer support where and when needed but his primarily role will be to gauge the academic, social and cultural experiences of the students studying across the UK. He will be able to help UDA further its mission in connecting the education and sporting experience for those students playing in our respective sporting academies.”
Thompson concluded, “One of Mal’s main focus is to collect the stories of our students to tell of their academic, social, cultural and overall living experiences while in the UK. While we have our own staff in our respective soccer and golf academies who will be closely connected to the students, Mal offers another level of connection and care.”
Welcome aboard Mal to the UDA family!
